"Here's to The Untamed :
May we know them.
May we raise them.
May we love them.
May we read them.
May we elect them.
May we be them."
Finished this beautiful (both inside and out) book. It is really hard to summarize Untamed because it encompasses soooooo much! She lays the ground work for becoming Untamed in the areas of our life where we have shrunk ourselves down in an attempt to feel safer, more comfortable and a greater measure of belonging. She clearly lays out what it looks like to walk in that Untamed-ness, and then she explores every aspect of her own life and experience and applies the lessons of Untamed living there. I hope that made sense because that is absolutely the very best I can do. The content here is expansive!
Glennon Doyle is my people. I read Carry On Warrior and Love Warrior a couple years ago and the things I have gotten out of those two books have not left me.
Untamed was different than those other two. This book was a full blown RECKONING. The other two nudged me towards challenge and discovery, this book was a gauntlet thrown down by a woman that has warred for her freedom and is speaking from the authority of that freedom. Her writing has always been powerful, somehow both understated and overstated at the same time, but Untamed was an unleashing of some of the most emotionally raw and unique writing I have ever witnessed. There were these beautiful allegorical chapters that almost felt like streams of consciousness and then there were chapters where it felt like she was shouting down the doors of me in the way that people do when their passion cannot be contained at a friendly volume. I expected to weep my way through this book like I did Love Warrior. I did cry my way through a lot of it, but also I found myself unbelievably proud of my own healing because a lot of what she is calling women to do and be are also unhampered in me because I have healed the things holding back the wild in me.
I already know a lot of people do not like this new Glennon (I get to hear about it a lot because I talk about her a lot) to those people I say "ew." And also "you are missing out."
